eco-Plumb are BPEC trained and qualified installers of solar water heating systems.
We supply and fit both flat plate and vacuum tube solar panels and complete water heating systems. For a quote please contact us.
Solar thermal systems are the perfect partner for wood based heating systems and we can design a complete system to meet your needs.
Evacuated Tube Collectors
An evacuated tube collector is installed on the roof of the house and is connected via a pump to a dual coil hot water tank in the airing cupboard.
The system can easily be installed in either new build homes, or existing homes, provided the heating system incorporates a hot water tank (either vented or unvented).
The system is not generally suitable for homes with combination boilers and ideally the collector needs to be positioned within 45 degrees of South. It can be mounted on the roof, a purpose built frame, or on the gable end of the building.
Our vacuum tube systems are our most efficient and as a result are a little more expensive than our flat plate systems.
A typical system will meet up to 70% of a home's annual hot water needs and the system only needs daylight (as opposed to direct sunlight) to operate effectively.

Flat Plate Collectors
In roof panels.
Flat plate systems work in exactly the same way as vacuum tube systems with the only difference being the design of the collector.
A typical system will meet up to 60% of a home’s annual hot water needs and the system only needs daylight (as opposed to direct sunlight) to operate effectively.
These collectors can be roof integrated or roof mounted and can be combined with photovoltaic collector panels. Roof integrated panels are best suited for new build projects or for buildings that are being re-roofed. Aesthetically, they are less intrusive than bolt on systems.
Our roof mounted systems work in exactly the same way as our roof integrated systems with the difference being that the solar array fits just above the surface of the roof. These systems have the advantage that the roof hardly needs to be disturbed to install them making them the best choice for some installations on existing properties.
On roof panels.
Roofs are not the only option. The panels can be installed in various ways, for example:
on flat roofs
or as a canopy.
Solar Station
The solar station
The solar station controls the flow of heated solar fluid to the storage cylinder. The solar thermal system can be filled and ventilated in a single operation at the solar station. Unlike other systems, there is then no need to touch the collectors on the roof in order to bleed the system.
